- By removing identifiable details, K-sure aims to focus on candidates’ actual competency and aptitude.
■ Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-sure, www.ksure.or.kr, Moon Jae-do, president) started its official recruitment for the 2nd half of 2017 with the application window available from Wednesday 6 September until Wednesday 20 September (5 PM, local time), for hiring 14 new recruits. During this round, K-sure also seeks 20 interns for its internship program in a bid to provide work experience in the field of export credit to high school graduates and college undergraduates planing to work in the global trade and international business.
○ For hiring its regular staff, K-sure proceeds its recruitment via 2 tracks - regular recruiting for general applicants and special recruiting for local university graduates to find hidden local talents. With the same rationale, K-sure opens its internship placement considering regional balance by running the program on the regional base to offer the chance fairly across the regions.
■ Besides seeking regional diversity in hiring and creating its talent pool, K-sure has constantly pursued transparency in its recruiting process, setting the tone of fair recruitment culture among its peer institutions through early adoption of blind system. And at this round, K-sure applies stricter guidelines to further ensure the impartiality and neutrality in its hiring.
○ Since 2008, K-sure has removed personally identifiable information from candidates’ data provided to the interview panels - such as their name, education, GPA score, etc. to overcome unconscious bias and promote merit-based recruitment in the process of new hiring.
○ From 2015, the system has been further expanded by removing additional items from its application form which are considered irrelevant in evaluating applicants’ actual competency such as gender and education. From the latest recruitment round held in the 1st half of this year, K-sure even striped out information on performance of military duty and ID photo.
○ From this round, age, major, and GPA score were additionally removed to strictly focus on verifying applicants’ aptitude and key competency described in job descriptions. In doing so K-sure aims to block any biased decisions and find the best persons suited to its values.
■ The hiring of new recruits is proceeded by separating the positions into “Research & Underwriting” and “Legal, Claim & Recovery Management” Divisions. The specific job requirements for each division are available at K-sure’s official recruitment notice.
○ The recruitment proceeds in a 4-tiered process of document review, written test, senior staff interview and executive interview. The written test will take place in Seoul on Saturday, 21 October, 2017. The selected candidates will undergo an one-month job training from the end of November before their official assignment at the year end.
○ The interns will be selected by senior staff interview among those short-listed via document review. The internship period will be 3-month starting from this November.
