K-sure held the 8th RCG CEO Meeting with 12 ECAs of Asia-Pacific

- Participants discussed ways to deepened the cooperation among ECAs of the region.
- K-sure presented on the role of ECA for SMEs, introducing its unique SME supporting system.
■ Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-sure, www.ksure.or.kr, Kim Young-hak, president) announced on July 5 that it held the 8th RCG CEO Meeting of Berne Union (CEO meeting) for two days from the 5th to 6th of July at Shila Hotel, Seoul.
■ The CEOs of Asia-Pacific ECAs and the Secretary General of the Berne Union (BU) joined in the meeting. Participants discussed ways of furthering cooperation among ECAs in the Asia-Pacific region to facilitate the regional economy amid challenging economic situations caused by continuing low oil prices and the slow down of emerging economies.
○ At the meeting, K-sure presented about “SMEs and the role of ECA” and introduced its multi-pronged approach toward SME supports to nurture them as globally competitive players. In 2015 its trade insurance support for SME amounted a total of 41.7 trillion, a fact which was also share with the participants at its presentation. Also, K-sure explained its unique systems for supporting export startups using its organizational, institutional and educational programs.
■ Among the BU members, K-sure was ranked as the 2nd largest in the region and the 4th largest in the world with USD 14.93 million (KRW 168 trillion) of trade insurance support. This 8th RCG CEO Meeting is the second meeting hosted by K-sure following the 75th Berne Union Annual Meeting in 2009, putting it further higher place in the regional as well as global export credit markets.
■ Mr. Kim Young-hak, president of K-sure stated that “Through successful hosting of the 8th RCG CEO Meeting, K-sure has genuinely emerged as the leading ECA of the region. K-sure will provide active support to Korean exporters and their overseas investment in the Asia-Pacific and the world through our continued effort to deepened our mutual cooperation with other ECAs.”
