- President Kim visited EVN to discuss cooperative measures for the country’s power generation industry.
- K-sure provided $990M of support to a Vietnamese power generation project.
■ Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-sure, www.ksure.or.kr, Kim Young-hak, president) announced that its President Kim Young-hak had a meeting with Mr. Dinh Qyang tri, the Vice President of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to discuss ways to promote mutual cooperation and facilitate Korean companies’ participation in Vietnamese power generation projects.
■ Vietnam is a highly attractive market with a huge infrastructure development and construction needs as the country’s electricity supply is not meeting the demand, which increases 8% annually thanks to the country’s rapid economic growth of an average of 5% for the past 5 years, especially 6.7% in 2015.
○ Noticing such a huge potential, K-sure has been actively supporting Korean companies’ business in the country, for instance providing U$ 470 million of export credit to Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction for Song Hau 1 power generation projects.
■ Meanwhile K-sure has been actively waging a marketing campaign led by its CEO, targeting global as well as emerging markets to help Korean companies win overseas projects while, at the same time, providing the Korean construction and plant industries with preliminary export financing before they win orders from overseas buyers to strengthen Korean companies’ bid winning competitiveness.
■ Mr. Kim Young-hak, president of K-sure stated that “Due to the low oil price trend, Korean companies are having hard time in overseas market when bidding construction or plant projects. The situation is so dire that it is even dubbed as “market draught.”
○ However, we believe there are always hidden opportunities. And to help our companies to find them, K-sure will render every support through multi-directional assistance.“
